British economy surpasses Europe as France and Germany falter

The UK economy is outpacing France and Germany, driven by strong growth in its services sector.

UK services demand is rising rapidly, reaching the highest level since May 2023, following Labour's general election victory, which brought in new clients and contracts.

In contrast, economic activity in France and Germany, the Eurozone's largest economies, has slowed down, hinting at potential economic challenges.

The UK's new business index jumped from 51.6 in June to 54.9 in July, showing growth fueled by increased demand from global markets like Europe, North America, and Asia.

Business confidence in the UK hit a five-month high after the election, as companies gained more clarity on government policies.

French business confidence dropped to its lowest this year, with concerns that the positive effects from the Olympics may fade, while German business activity also declined for the first time since March.

The UK services index rose from 52.1 in June to 52.5 in July, showing stronger growth compared to weaker service sector performance in France and Germany.
