China to implement 1st monetary policy since 2010 to spur economic expansion

Posted on December 11, 2024   |

In 2025, China will implement an “appropriately loose” monetary policy to boost economic growth, the first such change since 2010.

The government will adopt a proactive fiscal policy and use unconventional counter-cyclical measures to support the economy.

China plans to maintain stability by focusing on progress and leveraging it to drive innovation.

The central bank will follow five policy stances—“loose”, “appropriately loose”, “prudent”, “appropriately tight”, and “tight”—with flexibility to adjust.

China switched to a “prudent” monetary policy in late 2010 after adopting an “appropriately loose” stance following the 2008 global financial crisis.
