Egypt introduced a EGP 200 billion ($4 billion) support plan to help people manage rising costs during Ramadan and the next fiscal year.
The government raised the minimum wage for state employees to EGP 7,000 per month, increased pensions, and expanded cash aid for Takaful and Karama beneficiaries by 25%.
Officials approved a 15% pension increase starting in July, with more details to come from the National Authority for Social Insurance.
The plan will cost EGP 40 billion over two months, while wage hikes alone will require EGP 85 billion for the next fiscal year.
Public sector employees will get a higher cost-of-living allowance, rising from EGP 600 to EGP 1,000, plus an extra EGP 300 payment starting in July.
The government set up a EGP 10 billion fund to support families and allocated EGP 6 billion to assist farmers.
Authorities expanded state-funded medical programs to cover 60,000 more patients in March and April.
