Egypt's annual inflation accelerates to 36% in October

Egypt saw a rise in yearly inflation to 35.8% in October, a significant increase compared to the 16.3% recorded in the same month last year.
The continuing inflation is attributed to a substantial 71.7% surge in the cost of food and beverages from last October.
This surge includes a 101.5% increase in vegetable prices and a 97% rise in meat and poultry prices.
Costs related to housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel also went up by 7.5% compared to October of the previous year.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 54.8% compared to October 2022.
The expenses for dining out and hotel stays also experienced a 45% increase in prices.
Other noteworthy increases include a 52.6% surge in the culture and entertainment sector and a 40.2% rise in prices for furniture and home appliances.
