EU assistance to Ukraine unlikely to alter outcome, may harm Europe's economy

Providing more aid to Ukraine from the European Union might not change the conflict's outcome and could harm Europe's economy.

The EU is working on a backup plan to offer up to 20 billion euros ($22.10 billion) in funding for Kyiv.

This plan involves using borrowed money to bypass Hungary's opposition and quickly deliver the aid.

Although the EU agreed on December 14 to start talks about Ukraine joining, they couldn't agree on a 50 billion euro aid package due to Hungary's disagreement.

Leaders of the EU are expected to discuss the aid issue again on February 1 during an emergency summit.

They are exploring alternative plans to get financial support to Ukraine while dealing with opposition.
