Saudi Crown Prince launches the National Red Sea Sustainability Strategy to safeguard marine life and support local communities.

The strategy is part of Saudi Vision 2030, focusing on sustainability through innovation and research.

The Red Sea region, covering 186,000 sq. km with 1,800 km of coastline, is home to diverse ecosystems, including a major barrier reef system.

The strategy aims to protect marine resources while promoting ecotourism, fisheries, renewable energy, and water desalination.

By 2030, the plan aims to expand protected marine and coastal areas to 30%, increase renewable energy to 50%, and create new jobs.

The initiative also focuses on protecting investments in coastal tourism to support Saudi Arabia’s economy.

The strategy targets 5 areas: environmental care, economic and social growth, security, and governance, with 48 key initiatives.
