Sweden’s unemployment rate rose to 10.4% in January, up 1.9 percentage points from last year, with 592,000 people unemployed—114,000 more than the previous year.

Unemployment increased across all age groups, affecting both men and women, as well as local and foreign-born workers.

Statistics Sweden reported that this January’s unemployment rate was the highest in 25 years.

Almost one in four young people (aged 15–24) were unemployed, a slight increase from last year.

The rise in unemployment affected all groups, showing widespread job losses.
