US to begin economic talks with 13 nations to expand market access
Posted on September 12, 2022 |
- The Indo-Pacific Economic Framework talks will define a wide platform for market-driven economies to engage in trade and data flows, environmental and labor standards, supply chains, and anti-corruption efforts.
- The 13 countries are the US, Japan, India, South Korea, Australia, and Indonesia, all members of the Group of 20 (G-20) largest economies, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
- The US will focus on non-tariff issues that deliver market access for American exporters.
- The efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change will be taken as well because Congress recently secured $370 billion (S$519.74 billion) for green energy development.
