2022 saw a 36.6% decline in Egypt's housing construction

In FY2021-22, 246,100 residential units were built in Egypt, a decline of 36.65% compared to the previous year.

The new units were built for $4.64 billion of which 69,800 units were middle class, 13,800 were upper class, 22,600 were premium, and 56.8% were low-income housing.

The public sector built 130,700 units, while the private sector built 115,400.

Moreover, the Urban Development Fund completed 70 projects for the development of informal payments, which include 89,363 residential units, 2,448 and commercial units with a total cost of EGP 40.329 billion in 2010-2021.
