Melbourne is now the center of youth homelessness in Australia, with over 15,000 under-19s needing assistance in 2023.

In the last financial year, 15,271 young people in Melbourne reached out for help with homelessness.

Homelessness Australia’s report shows that 18,828 Victorian children with families needed help, the highest in the country.

Victoria also had the second-highest number of unaccompanied minors needing homelessness support nationwide.

Melbourne’s western area has the highest youth homelessness rate in Australia.

Over 22,000 children across Victoria sought help from homelessness services, highlighting a major housing crisis.
