Canada's immigration strategy to boost housing and services

Posted on November 3, 2023   |

Canada is revising its immigration approach to include housing, healthcare, and services, following a significant population increase – the largest in almost 70 years.

Over the 12 months leading up to July 1, 2023, the population surged by 2.9%, surpassing 40 million individuals.

The Canadian government faces the challenge of managing immigration, aiming for 500,000 permanent residents by 2025, while also addressing issues like a housing crisis and rising living costs.

In the current year, Canada is targeting 465,000 new residents.

A key aspect of this updated strategy involves expediting the process of granting international student permits to institutions that offer better housing, services, and support.
