Housing permits saw a decline of 26% in Germany

In January 2023, with a total number of permits of 21600, the number of permits for housing construction fell by 26% to 7,700 units compared to last year. 

The number of permits allocated for housing units in new buildings, and for existing buildings, fell to the lowest level since February 2015.

The number of permits for the construction of private houses fell by 25.5% or 1,700 to 4,900 permits.
