Jeddah Tower construction resumes after 5-year hiatus, challenging Burj Khalifa

Construction has restarted on the Jeddah Tower after a 5-year break. It aims to become the world's tallest skyscraper, surpassing the Burj Khalifa in the UAE.
The project faced various delays, including a pause in 2018 and further setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, a change in the main contractor happened during the 2017-2019 Saudi Arabian transition.
The developer, Jeddah Economic Company (JEC), is currently seeking new contractors to complete the tower.
They have invited international builders to submit their proposals by the end of 2023, along with a clear project timeline.
Before the construction stopped, around one-third of the tower was finished, reaching the 50th floor out of a total of 157, with the foundation work already in place.
Once finished, the Jeddah Tower will stand at an impressive height of 3,281 feet (1,000 meters), surpassing the Burj Khalifa by 564 feet (172 meters).
