UK's housing prices surpassed the inflation rate in 22 cities

Several big UK cities are putting a stronger performance, 22 of the 62 major cities saw high rates of home price growth as opposed to inflation.

Peterborough is at the top of the table where inflation reached 10.2 % while house prices grew by 14.4% in 2022, a 4.1% difference. 

In Wigan, inflation is at a rate of 10.7% but home prices grew by 13.9%, which is a difference of 3.2%; this difference was also seen in Derby at 3.0%, where home prices grew by 13.9% against a city inflation rate of 10.9%. 

In Norwich and Nottingham, home prices grew by 2.5%, in Swindon by 2.0%, Cambridge by 1.7%, Blackburn by 1.5%, Barnsley by 1.3%, and in Birmingham by 1.2%.
