28 out of 30 EU Member States provided EUTR application updates to commission in April

Posted on October 6, 2023   |

In April 2023, 28 out of 30 EUTR Member States submitted data on EUTR compliance, while Iceland and Liechtenstein did not provide this information.

The EUTR aims to prevent the sale of illegally harvested timber and related products in EU Member States and the European Economic Area (EEA) countries.

Member States are obligated to disclose their EUTR compliance data for assessment by the public.

Timber products with the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, and Trade (FLEGT) licenses are considered legally harvested under the EUTR, reducing due diligence requirements for operators.

Out of the 9 VPA countries, only Indonesia issues FLEGT licenses.

Timber from other VPA countries is subject to the EUTR due to incomplete implementation.
