April sees a monthly decline but an annual boost in US wood pellet exports

In April, the US exported 819,341.5 metric tons of wood pellets, a decrease from March's 938,662.3 metric tons but an increase from April 2023's 720,209.2 metric tons.

The US shipped wood pellets to 16 countries in April, with the UK receiving the largest amount at 500,136.1 metric tons.

Japan was the second-largest importer with 180,621 metric tons, followed by France with 62,371.9 metric tons.

The Netherlands imported 32,400.9 metric tons, and Belgium-Luxembourg received 24,717.8 metric tons.

The value of wood pellet exports in April was $157.26 million, down from $174.33 million in March but up from $129.17 million in April 2023.

US wood pellet exports for the first four months of 2024 totaled approximately 3.2 million metric tons, valued at $607.29 million.

This is an increase from the same period in 2023 when 2.9 million metric tons were exported, valued at $531.25 million.
