Aspen Planers resumed operations at its Merritt mill
Posted on February 13, 2023 |
The mill restarted on February 1, 2023, and was closed since early December due to a lack of approved cutting permits.
The mill will be processing coastal cedar logs rather than its typical interior fiber; the cedar logs are from northern Vancouver Island.
The company is taking the expense of transporting the logs to resume the mills and providing for the 150 mill employees, who have been laid off since December.
