Australian government to invest $61 million towards planting 150 million trees within 5 years

- The Australian government will announce a cash-grant plan to help foresters and farmers in 11 stated regional forest hubs install new softwood and hardwood plantations.
- The AU $86 million ($61 million) investment in forestry aims to plant 150 million trees in the next 5 years, the government hopes that the states, territories, and industry invest $300 million.
- The scheme will create jobs in regional Australia, and also in 25 or 30 years’ time when that wood will get harvested and processed into products.
