Austria shipped out 3.5 million m³ of softwood lumber and planned timber in the first 8 months, 430,000 m³ less than in 2022.

Exports to Japan more than halved, but those to Slovenia increased by 40%.

Between January and August, Austria exported 1.16 million m³ of glue- and cross-laminated timber, marking a 10% decrease compared to the same period in 2022 when 1.28 million m³ was exported.

Italy reduced its softwood lumber imports by 11%, including a drop in imports from Austria, while imports from Germany and Finland saw an increase.

The timber trade dynamics in Austria in 2023 reflect changes in export destinations and products, influenced by shifting demand and supply trends impacting the industry.
