  • On November 6, forest industry representatives will be in Japan for a 5-day trade mission which will include a tour of the Tokyo University of the Arts nail-laminated timber demonstration project- the first type of engineered wood product for the flooring to be commercially adopted in Japan.
  • Witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Canada Wood and developer Seiwa Corporation on the joint development of tall mid-ply, hosting a customer appreciation reception at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo.
  • Visiting the B.C. Wood Japan office and touring the Log Road Commercial Development, visiting Osaka to chat with customers in the Kansai region.
  • Meeting with Japanese officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism, and the Japan Forestry Agency.
  • They will also meet with the Japan 2x4 Home Builders Association as dimensional lumber is the backbone of B.C.'s forestry sector, but the provincial government has been trying to promote higher-value industries, such as engineered wood products and tall wood building construction.
  • These missions are essential in growing B.C.'s reputation in providing customers around the world with renewable, low-carbon forest products.
