BC to add new amendments to its lumber regulations

Posted on December 11, 2023   |

The BC Provincial Government has introduced new changes to increase opportunities for wood manufacturing, aiming to support the forestry sector and generate additional jobs.

The proposed amendments to the Manufactured Forest Products Regulation, focusing on the Interior of BC, aim to broaden manufacturing requirements to export cedar and cypress lumber.

These adjustments are designed to strengthen the forestry sector by promoting increased wood product manufacturing within the province, contributing to economic growth.

Starting from February 1st, 2024, the amendments will necessitate Interior mills to complete the manufacturing process for harvested cedar and cypress wood.
