British Columbia is providing new support to forest-sector manufacturers to create jobs, strengthen local economies, and encourage the production of high-quality, locally-made wood products.
Kruger Kamloops Pulp Mill, a major employer in Kamloops, will receive up to C$5 million for a new AI-powered pressure diffusion washer, the first of its kind in Canada.
The Canadian government will add C$4.9 million through the Investment in Forest Industry Transformation (IFIT) Program to help fund this project.
The investment will help Kruger offer new products, stay competitive, lower costs, and improve the quality of its pulp products.
Power Wood Corporation, working with Squiala First Nation, will receive up to C$3.4 million to build a new thermal modification facility.
The facility will produce high-quality, thermally treated wood products that are strong and long-lasting.
The Canadian government is also contributing C$3 million through the IFIT Program for this project in partnership with Squiala PWC Wood Modifying Limited Partnership.
