Brazilian wood-based product exports surge year-over-year in May

In May 2024, Brazil's exports of wood-based products (excluding pulp and paper) increased by 2.7% in value, going from $328.3 million to $337.0 million compared to May 2023.

Pine sawn wood exports dropped by 14% in value, from $74.5 million in May 2023 to $64.1 million in May 2024, and decreased by 11% in volume, from 306,300 m³ to 271,300 m³.

Pine plywood exports rose by 20% in value, from $63.8 million in May 2023 to $76.5 million in May 2024, with a volume increase of 11%, from 195,900 m³ to 217,100 m³.

Tropical plywood exports increased by 11% in value, from $1.9 million to $2.1 million, and by 9% in volume, from 3,200 m³ to 3,500 m³, between May 2023 and May 2024.

Wooden furniture exports grew by 5% in value, from $52.1 million in May 2023 to $54.6 million in May 2024.

Brazil's wood-based product exports grew in various categories, despite a decrease in pine-sawnwood exports.
