Brazilian wood exports see 26% decline in August 2023

In August 2023, Brazil saw a 26.0% decrease in the value of its wood-based product exports (excluding pulp and paper) compared to the previous year, declining from $404.0 million to $299.8 million.

Exports of tropical sawnwood, a type of wood, experienced a 26.0% reduction in volume, falling from 35,700 m³ in August 2022 to 26,200 m³ in August 2023. 

The value of these exports also dropped by 22.0%, from $16.2 million to $12.6 million during the same period.

Brazilian wooden furniture exports declined by 11.0%, with export values decreasing from $60.9 million in August 2022 to $54.0 million in August 2023.
