Brazil’s Forest Exports Soar: Wood-based products up by 20% in September

Brazil’s exports of wood-based products, excluding pulp and paper, rose by 20% in September 2024, totaling $313.5 million, up from $260.9 million in September 2023.

Tropical sawnwood exports increased by 12% in volume, reaching 25,700 m³ in September 2024 compared to 23,000 m³ in September 2023. However, revenue dropped slightly by 2%, from $10.2 million to $10 million.

Tropical plywood exports saw a 33% rise in value and a 35% increase in volume, climbing to $1.6 million and 2,700 m³ in September 2024 from $1.2 million and 2,000 m³ a year earlier.

Wood furniture exports grew by 8%, with values rising from $47.1 million in September 2023 to $51 million in September 2024.

Strong global demand, especially for tropical plywood and furniture, contributed to the rise in Brazil’s wood exports.

Despite minor revenue dips, interest in tropical wood products fueled growth in Brazil’s wood exports.
