BSW Timber receives the green light for expansion of Wales sawmill

Posted on November 6, 2023

BSW Timber has received the green light from Powys County in Wales to establish a "super" sawmill.

This expansion project involves the construction of a primary operations facility and a drop sorter building, alongside related infrastructure.

This move will enable BSW to significantly increase its log input capacity, from 200,000 to 360,000 m³.

This capacity boost is anticipated to enhance the sawmill's efficiency and bring about the creation of 30 new job opportunities within the region.

Inside the main building, various sawmill equipment such as chippers, bandsaws, and circular saws will be utilized to process logs.

The drop sorter building is an extension of the existing sawmill and will play a crucial role in sorting and stacking the increased volume of logs.

Collectively, these buildings will provide a total indoor space of 820 square meters and 1,640 square meters.
