Canada takes action against latest US softwood lumber tariff increases
Posted on September 16, 2024 |
Canada is challenging the recent increase in US softwood lumber duties.
Two legal challenges have been launched under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).
Canada argues the duties are unfair, hurt its lumber industry, and raise housing costs.
In August, the US nearly doubled the duties from about 8% to over 14.5%.
This increase is part of the US's fifth review of softwood lumber duties.
