Canada to question US duties on softwood lumber under USMCA trade agreement

- The Canadian government filed an official notice to question the U.S. softwood lumber duties under the US-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement.
- In November, the U.S. Department of Commerce doubled the duties to 17.9% after examining its antidumping and countervailing duty orders concerning softwood lumber products from Canada.
- The US accused Canada of unfairly supporting and dumping softwood lumber that is commonly used to build homes, and Canada denies these allegations for which they are examining U.S. lumber duties.
