Canadian lumber sees a drop in production, but an overall yearly rise in December

Canadian lumber production fell sharply in December 2023, declining by 22.6% to 3,432.4 thousand cubic meters compared to the previous month. 

However, it showed a 5.8% increase compared to the same period last year.

Lumber shipments from Canadian sawmills totaled 3,502.3 thousand cubic meters in December. 

This represented an 18.0% decrease from November levels but marked a 3.6% rise compared to December 2022.
