Canfor resumed production at its Houston, BC, sawmill after fire repairs

Posted on February 17, 2023   |

Canfor’s Houston, BC, sawmill facility resumed full production on February 6th, following the completion of required repairs to a computer room that controls the operations of the trimmer saws, which was damaged by a fire on January 22nd.

However, Canfor can keep the mill running until April and then temporarily shut it down, affecting 350 direct employees and those who cut and deliver logs and provide services.

Canfor is planning to sell logs to other companies to keep their contractors working while the Houston facility is down.

They will be maintaining their wood license and are developing plans for woodland activities through the closure.
