China’s forestry output rises to $1.38 trillion in 2024, up 9.6%

In 2024, China’s forestry industry reached 10 trillion yuan ($1.38 trillion), growing by 9.6% from the previous year.
The country produced over 200 million tons of forest foods like camellia oil, olive oil, and walnuts, ranking third after grains and vegetables.
Timber production in China surpassed 137 million cubic meters, increasing by 8% from 2023.
47 million farmers now work in collective forests, with an average output of 300 yuan per mu (4,500 yuan per hectare), more than three times the previous output.
In 2024, China greened more than 100 million mu (6.67 million hectares) of land.
The forestry industry significantly contributes to job creation and supports China’s agricultural economy.
The forestry sector continues to grow, with higher production and more land greening efforts, boosting the economy.
