Dunkley Lumber has upgraded its Carrot River, Saskatchewan sawmill with a $240-million (CAD) investment over three years.

The new two-line stud mill uses advanced digital and AI technology to improve efficiency.

The upgraded mill now produces 70% more lumber with two shifts instead of three.

Annual production has increased from 130 million to 200 million board feet, including 1×4, 2×3, 2×4, and 2×6 framing lumber in 9-foot lengths.

The mill can now produce 10-foot studs and wider lumber, like 2×8, in the future.
