(EUDR) New European Union Deforestation Regulations scheduled to replace the (EUTR) European Union Timber Regulations
Posted on October 31, 2022 |
- The European Union Timber Regulations (EUTR) will soon be substituted by the new European Union Deforestation Regulations (EDUR) but the timber importers in Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, and the UK are unprepared for this change in EU regulations.
- The EUDR will now set mandatory due diligence duties for importers that place commodities on the EU market for the first time because the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) estimated that 420 million hectares of forest were lost to deforestation between 1990 and 2020.
