£4 million funding boost 16 timber transport projects in Scotland

Posted on June 9, 2023   |

New projects in Perthshire, Argyllshire, Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire, the Scottish Borders, and the Highlands will take part in £4 million of funding.

The projects will create new transit roads away from busy villages, build passing areas on narrow roads, upgrade present weak roads, and boost timber shipping via sea.

These include £945,000 to help the TimberLINK service to move 70,000 tonnes of timber via sea on the West Coast of Scotland.

£284,500 to Perth & Kinross Council to enhance parts of the A93 and £222,000 to Dumfries & Galloway Council to carry 1,800,000 tonnes of timber in the next 10 years.

£245,000 to Highland Council, to broaden the approach to the Howford Bridge in the River Nairn.

And £111,000 to Argyll & Bute Council for improving the road between Ballochandrain and Tighnabruaich through resurfacing and widening.
