Finland cuts timber harvesting volume by 5% from January to June 2022

  • 4.5 million m³ of roundwood was harvested for the country's forest industry which is at the same level as 2021 but grew by 4% compared to the June average over the past 5 years.
  • Industrial roundwood removal from non-industrial private forests fell by 8% to 3.5 million m³ from a year earlier.
  • The volume of cuttings in the forests of timber industry enterprises and state forests reached 1 million m³.
  • The volume of fuel wood haulage reached 555,000 m³, of which 256,000 m³ were debranched trunks and whole trees.
  • In January-June 2022, the harvested roundwood for the timber industry fell by 5% to 30.7 million m³ from the previous year and 3% from the average for the first half of the past 5 years.
