Germany saw a 22% reduction in softwood log exports in 2024

Posted on December 16, 2024   |

Germany’s exports of coniferous logs dropped by 22% in the first nine months of 2024, totaling 3.3 million cubic metres compared to the previous year.

Austria and China remain the largest buyers, making up about 70% of Germany’s softwood log exports.

Demand for softwood logs increased in November despite the decline in exports.

This growth is reflected in survey results from the HMI reporting network and statements from German forestry companies.
