Holmen sees low demand for wood products in Q4 2024, but prices stay steady
Posted on February 13, 2025 |
Holmen saw weak demand for wood products in Q4 2024, while prices stayed steady.
The company reduced timber production in 2024, with deliveries dropping to 1,348,000m³ from 1,498,000m³ in 2023.
Holmen’s wood division experienced a decline in operating profit to SEK 2 million in 2024, down from SEK 6 million the year before.
Fewer deliveries and higher log costs affected profits, but increased wood chip and biofuel sales helped soften the impact.
Holmen’s Q4 2024 operating profit fell to SEK -18 million from SEK 0 million in Q3 due to rising log costs in southern Sweden.
Holmen plans to temporarily close the Iggesund Sawmill in Q1 2025 for upgrades, which may cause a SEK 30 million loss.
