Interfor saw $304 million loss in 2024 amid a 5% drop in lumber production

Interfor Corporation reported a net loss of $304 million for 2024, marking a 14% increase compared to the $267 million loss in 2023.
The company’s total revenue declined by 9% to $3 billion, down from $3.3 billion the previous year.
Adjusted EBITDA for 2024 dropped by 60%, amounting to $19 million, compared to $48 million in 2023.
Lumber production for 2024 was 4 billion board feet, a decrease of 5% from 4.15 billion board feet in 2023.
The U.S. South region's production fell by 4%, totaling 1.8 billion board feet, while Eastern Canada saw a 1% drop to 1 billion board feet.
Production in the U.S. Northwest declined by 27%, amounting to 457 million board feet, while British Columbia increased output by 8%, reaching 660 million board feet.
Lumber sales volume dropped by 3%, totaling 4 billion board feet, and the average selling price decreased by 4%, standing at $610 per thousand board feet.
Interfor closed 2024 with a net debt of $861 million, representing 36% of invested capital, up from 33% at the end of 2023.
