January sees drop in Brazil’s wood-based product exports

Posted on March 4, 2025   |

Brazil’s exports of wood-based products (excluding pulp and paper) fell by 10%, dropping from $294.9 million in January 2024 to $265.1 million in January 2025.

Tropical sawnwood exports rose by 12% in volume, increasing from 24,700 m³ to 27,700 m³, but revenue declined by 3%, from $11.3 million to $11.0 million.

Wooden furniture exports decreased by nearly 10%, going from $38.6 million in January 2024 to $34.8 million in January 2025.

The Brazilian Forest Service (SFB) cautioned that new U.S. tariffs on Brazilian imports may be implemented as early as April 1.

Pulp remains Brazil’s top export to the U.S., even as trade restrictions loom.

The U.S. continues to be a key market for Brazilian timber, with $3.7 billion in exports recorded in 2024.

Brazilian exporters face uncertainty as the possibility of U.S. tariffs raises concerns about future trade.
