Lessebo Paper to halt production due to high electricity cost of $15 million

  • The electricity cost for Lessebo Paper increased from €3 million ($2 million) to €19 million ($18 million) per year, forcing Lessebo Paper to stop production. 
  • The electricity price is EUR 518.73 per MWh resulting in a daily electricity cost of over €58,000 for the Lecebo paper and a decision will be taken daily for production based on the electricity price for the coming day.
  • The price increases will affect Lessebo Paper as well as several industries in the south of Sweden.
