The volatility in lumber markets seems to be gone, as lumber prices rose to $446 per thousand board feet.

In May, in the US, total new housing starts grew by 22% from April and 6% from May 2022.

It is pleasing for B.C. sawmills as in 2021, lumber prices hit record highs of $1,600 per thousand board feet, as a result, many B.C. sawmills took temporary curtailments.
