Metsä Wood to supply LVL products to Modvion, a Swedish wood turbine tower builder
Posted on May 8, 2023 |
A Finnish wood products company, Metsä Wood agreed to provide (LVL) laminated veneer lumber to a Swedish wood technology company, Modvion for its wooden wind turbine towers.
Modvion produces modular wind turbine towers with LVL and Metsä Wood is an essential supplier.
The material is necessary for the design, leading to lighter towers with less expensive reinforcements.
The Modvion tower will need 300–1200 cubic meters of wood volumes depending on the height and load, meaning an LVL carbon storage capacity between 240–950 tonnes CO2eq per tower.
