New Covid-19 vaccine mandates may confuse truckers
Posted on January 18, 2022 |
- The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced that they would exempt truck drivers from providing proof of a negative molecular test in quarantine or at the border, and after 16 hours from the same announcement, some drivers were sent to the U.S. to cover the load which needed to be delivered and those truckers were under the impression that they would be exempted.
- The trucking industry was not properly informed of the mandate until the federal government publicly announced that unaffiliated Canadian truck drivers would not be exempt from the new federal vaccine mandate.
- The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada requested a temporary exemption for unvaccinated truckers who were dispatched earlier this week but their requests were denied.
- As per the government, unvaccinated Canadian truckers will have to meet requirements for pre-entry, arrival, and day 8 testing, as well as quarantine requirements
- Non-Canadian truckers need to complete their authorized vaccine series 14 days before entering the country and should submit the information via the ArriveCAN app.
