Norra Timber is investing up to SEK 150 million (US$14.8 million) in a 3-phase upgrade of its Hissmofors sawmill in Sweden.

The upgrade will include new, more efficient post-processing machines along the saw line to increase production capacity.

The sawmill, which employs about 70 people, currently produces 170,000 m3 annually, with plans to boost this to 200,000 m3 in the next two years.

The new equipment will cost SEK 40 million (US$3.9 million) and will add 10,000 m3sv to annual production.

Norra Skog’s board has approved the investment plan, starting with phase one focused on upgrading equipment.
