Paper Excellence Canada declares permanent closure of Catalyst Paper Tiskwat mill

Paper Excellence Canada announced the permanent curtailment of production at its Catalyst Paper Tiskwat mill in Powell River, BC.

Over the past 18 months since the initial indefinite curtailment, a significant portion of the workforce opted for voluntary severance, while a small number chose to relocate to other Paper Excellence Canada mills.

Catalyst Paper Tiskwat, which once employed 200 individuals at its peak operation, has undergone a transformative change in its employee composition.

Despite this decision, Paper Excellence Canada remains committed to providing an uninterrupted supply of pulp and paper to its customers, drawing on its other operational mills in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

The move highlights Paper Excellence Canada's adaptability, ensuring its production capabilities are upheld while efficiently managing its resources in a changing landscape.
