Sawn softwood imports to Spain grew by 19% in Q1 2022

- In Q1, sawn softwood imports to Spain grew by 19% year on year and in January-March, over 295 thousand m³ of sawn timber was imported into the country.
- 90% of supplies came from European countries as German exports grew by 84% to 55,339 m³, which is the second largest supplier of lumber to Spain.
- Portugal increased deliveries by 5% to 42,939 m³, while deliveries from Sweden fell by 21% to 32,398 m³ but France remained the most important supplier country despite a 6% decline to 66,017 m³.
- Imports from non-European countries grew by 24% to 30,954 m³. Deliveries from Russia and Belarus soared to 4345 m³ and 3198 m³ respectively.
