Stora Enso foresees prolonged weak demand through 2024

Stora Enso expects ongoing challenges in the market that will likely extend into 2024, with little improvement anticipated in the final quarter of 2023. 

These difficulties are primarily due to low demand and price pressures.

Stora Enso's various business segments have faced adversity because of tough market conditions and pricing constraints. 

The global demand for pulp, used in paper production, remains sluggish due to an oversupply, and high-interest rates have put pressure on the construction industry.

Profits in the forestry industry have been squeezed since late last year due to rising costs and declining demand. 

Companies like Stora Enso and its Finnish counterpart, UPM-Kymmene, have been further impacted by clients reducing their inventories.
