American hardwood exports have increased by more than 5% year-to-date, despite declines in China, Japan, and Spain.

Australia is the fastest-growing market for US hardwood exports, with shipments of Red Oak up more than 50% from January to October.

China remains the largest market for US hardwood lumber, but its share of total exports has fallen by more than 3%.

Growth in Vietnam, Canada, the UK, and Australia has offset declines in China and Spain, contributing to a rise in overall exports.

Red Oak and White Oak dominate US hardwood exports, accounting for 28% and 21% of total volumes respectively.

US hardwood production reached its lowest level since 1960 last year, with 5,543,898.7 million board feet produced.

The decline in US hardwood production reflects long-term trends in market demand.
