Sveaskog exits Setra Group with 50% stake sale to Mellanskog
Posted on December 16, 2024 |
Sveaskog and Mellanskog signed a letter of intent for Mellanskog to purchase Sveaskog’s 50% stake in Setra Group, with the transfer expected in Q1 2025.
Setra Group, co-owned by Sveaskog (50%), Mellanskog (49.5%), and about 1,400 small shareholders (0.5%), is a major wood industry player in Sweden.
The company processes forest raw materials into products like sawn timber, planed timber, glulam, and CLT.
Setra contributes to Swedish wood exports and uses bioproducts for domestic energy production.
Sveaskog’s decision to divest aligns with its strategy as a responsible forest owner and a 2009 decision by the Swedish Riksdag.
