Members of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation bought 32.3 million m³ of wood from private forests between January and October, 16% more than last year and 20% higher than the five-year average.

Stumpage prices rose in October, with coniferous logs increasing by 18–19%, birch logs by 10%, and pulpwood by 29–33% compared to a year ago.

Pine logs sold for an average of 79 EUR/m³, with prices ranging from 47 to 83 EUR/m³. Spruce logs averaged 82 EUR/m³, ranging between 48 and 84 EUR/m³, while birch logs sold for an average of 64 EUR/m³, with prices from 41 to 71 EUR/m³.

Pulpwood prices averaged 31–33 EUR/m³, varying between 22 and 36 EUR/m³ depending on harvesting conditions.

Factors like tree volume, wood quality, trunk size, felling methods, transport distance, terrain, and seasonal conditions heavily influenced prices.

Even neighboring forest sites showed notable price differences due to local factors and logistics.

The strong demand for timber and higher stumpage prices reflect growth in Finland’s forestry industry.
